Charles Bulu gets praise for performance in Kumasi


The Referees Committee of Ghana Football Association have commended Referee Charles Bulu for his exhibition of great work on Thursday.

FIFA referee Bulu took charge of the match between Asante Kotoko and Berekum FC played on Wednesday in Kumasi.

Kotoko lost 0-1 to Berekum FC at their Baba Yara home grounds in the 3rd week fixture of the Ghana Premier League.

“Though, it was an unfortunate incident witnessed at the Stadium on Sunday. But the Referees Committee having watched images and videos of the unfortunate incident, plus the committee holistic review on the game itself, says BRAVO to Referee Charles Bulu for the good work done”. The Committee’s statement read.

His commendation was contained in the match report submitted at the Ghana Football Association after the said match.

Referee Bulu gave a second yellow card to Kotoko’s defender, Ampem Dacosta in the second half after he was alerted by the fourth referee.

Dacosta stamped on the feet of a Berekum FC player at the blind side of Referee Charles Bulu, but the FIFA referee acted accordingly after he was informed by his assistant.

This led to a hold up of the game following the attack on the referees by officials and players of Kotoko.

The supporters after throwing of water onto the field reacted violently after the game. This led to a scuffle between the police and the fans. \

The Committee also expressed sympathy with the injured supporter and wished him a speedy recovery.

“The Referees Committee takes a dim view of violence at the various match centers and therefore, will not be pushed by the interests of clubs that can incite unfortunate developments asuch”.

“To this end we believe it’s only fair and proper to call on fans to visit the match centers but should desist from hooliganism. Since, that would not grow the game but cause lost of life’s and properties”, the Committee concluded.
