Sakafia SHS has qualified to the next round of the Inter Schools soccer competition in Ashanti Region.
They eliminated Obuasi Secondary Technical School after winning 5-4 on penalties in the first game of the day.
Kumasi Anglican School (KASS) who were tipped to qualify surprisingly fell to Toase SHS (Toss).
Toss won 5;4 on penalties after the two sides failed to score in regulation time.
Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) also could not survive an early scare from Komfo Anokye SHS. The latter won 1-0 in regulation time to qualify for the next round of the competition.
Adanwomasi SHS also proved to be tough customers for Osei Kyeretwie (Okess) in the fourth game of the day. Okess survived after winning 5:3 on penalties.
Kumasi High School survived a scare from Jachie Pramso SHS in another heated battle which saw the two sides play a high tempo passing game to the admiration of the fans at the Baba Yara Stadium.
KUHIS managed to win the game 3:2 on penalties after another scoreless game. Jubilant students and old students celebrated the victory deep into the night.
The last game of the day saw Konongo Odumasi SHS take on Dadease Agric SHS in another exciting encounter. Dadease survived an early onslaught from KOSS to win 2:0 in the last match of the day to secure qualification.
