The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the postponement of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
This was announced on the official website of Africa’s football governing body on Tuesday as a result of the Corona Virus Pandemic that has hit the world.
The CHAN tournament was scheduled to take place in Cameroon from 4th to 25th April, 2020.
CAF’s medical team were sent to Cameroon to access the health situation in the country in the wake of the CONVID-19. The committee after consultation with a representative of World Health Organisation in the country recommended for the postponement of the tournament.
Their observations include;
- Preventive measures have been taken to control entry into the country and health facilities are ready to deal with the current situation
- The Cameroonian authorities have given all the guarantees for appropriate measures to ensure the smooth running of the competition
CAF has therefore thanked the Cameroonian authorities for the p
efforts and preparation so but urged them to continue preparing as the actual time would be confirmed later.
