Liverpool FC has clinched their first ever Premier League title after Chelsea beat Manchester City at the Stamford Bridge.
The Blues beat the defending Champions 2-1 on Thursday Night in the 31st Week Fixture.
Christian Pulisic and Willian scored for Chelsea with Kevin de Bryune scoring a fantastic free kick for City.
Prior to the game, Manchester City were lagging behind Liverpool by 23 points as they were expected to delay the title winning for the current champions with a win.
The two sides are expected to meet at the Ethiad Stadium next week and that was presumed to decide the title for Liverpool but it came earlier thanks to Chelsea.
The Reds won the old First Division league eighteen times and had been battling to win the converted Premier League for thirty years. They last won a league title in the 1989/90 season.
City had won the last two league titles in England and Liverpool now becomes the fifth club to win in the title in eight seasons.
They win the league with seven matches to spare with 86 points and City has 63 points.
As the global pandemic disrupted life in England and led to the suspension of the Premier League for three months, Reds supporters endured a nervous wait to see how the season would be concluded, with some early suggestions it might have been declared null and void, thus wiping their remarkable efforts from the record books.
Thankfully for them, that did not come to pass, and the Premier League’s return this month enabled them to cap their stunning success.
