Madrid won 3-2 against Chelsea in their last encounter in the International Champions Cup on July 30, 2016 in the United States of America.

Thomas Tuchel would have to dig deep into his technical abilities to enable Chelsea outshine Zidane and Madrid. Tuchel took Paris Saint Germain to the final last season and lost by a lone goal to Bayern Munich.

This will be Zidane’s fourth appearance at the semi- finals as a Madrid coach and he has progressed at all those times.

Madrid has not won in their last two La Liga games after dealing with both Liverpool and Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League and La Liga respectively.

But Chelsea will go into this game with some level of confidence after beating another Madrid giant Atletico Madrid at the Round of 16 knockouts Stage of the competition. They survived a scare by FC Porto at the Quarter Final Stage.

Chelsea have only scored a goal in their last three games, a loss to Porto, a goaless draw away to Brighton and Hove Albion and then a lone goal win against West Ham United over the last weekend.

Sergio Ramos would be the notable absentee for the Rojiblancos as the captain continues to nurse his injury on the sidelines. They would also be without other players like Fredrico Valverde who has also tested positive for corona virus as well as Mendy and Lucas Vasquez who are also injured.

But they would welcome back Dani Cavajal and Raphael Varane back into their defence after both missed out in the past three weeks. Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard is also back to face his former club.
