Argentina attacker Lionel Messi has altered the status of French side Paris St Germain after making a move from FC Barcelona.
Commercial activities in Paris were brought to a halt as fans started gathering at the airport to catch glimpse of their new star from Friday, 6th August, 2021.
He has signed a two year contract with the Parisans with one year extension. Messi will wear the 30 jersey for the French giants.
The deal will see the former Barcelona captain earning 35 million Euros a year plus add ons. The 34 year old Argentine passed his medical and was unveiled at the Pac de Princes Stadium on Tuesday.
The Catalan side failed to hold onto their talisman after his contract ended in June this year. Messi thus moves to PSG on a free transfer.
Barcelona President, Joan Laporta made the official announcement last week Tuesday that his side had dialed to register Messi due to the La Liga rules on Financial Fair Play.
Lionel Messi subsequently held a press conference on Thursday to confirm his departure from the club. His pictures were pulled down from the walls of the Camp Nou today. Barcelona fans who had still not come to terms with losing Leo Messi were at his house to force him change his decision but that could not materialize.
The French league has already started and Leo is expected to make his debut this coming weekend but that will depend on coach Mauricio Pechettino .
