Coach Otto Addo has recorded his first ever win as head coach of Ghana. He lest the Stars to beat Madagascar 3-0 in the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers. This was a group E match played at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The former Black Stars winger has not had it easy after taking over from former coach Milovan Rajeavic. He guided the Stars to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup as they held Nigeria to a pulsating draw.
Mohammed Kudus scored the first goal from a sublime shoot. He then assisted Bukari Osman to make it the third goal of the night. This was Osman’s first international goal for the Black Stars. All three goals came in the second half. He latched unto a lose ball before rounding past the goal kepper.
Madagascar gave Ghana a closed and tight came in the first half as Ghana failed to convert the numerous chances created.
Otto is also using the AFCON qualifiers as preparations for the World Cup in November, 2022. Otto played 15 games for Ghana and scored two goals. He also represented Ghana in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Ghana had failed to get a win in their last five games prior to facing the Southern Africans. Addo is expected to get his side back in shape before facing Central African Republic. Ghana will then travel to Japan to feature in a four nation tournament.
