Ghana failed to secure all three points against Central African Republic in the first ever meeting between the two nations.
Central Africa Republic played host to Ghana in Luanda; Angola’s capital due to lack of proper standardized stadium back home.
The Black Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by the Wild Beasts in the qualifications for the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
Mohammed Kudus scored Ghana’s first goal on the 11th minute. The Stars controlled the game in most parts of the first half but could not add any more goals.
CAR got their equalizer through Carl Namnganda just before the end of the first half.
Coach Otto made some changes in his starting line up with respect to the last game against Madagascar.
Goalkeeper Jojo Wallacot was given a rest for Lawrence Ati Zigi to keep the post. Andy Yiadom also got into the starting line up as well as Edmund Addo. Senior player Jonathan Mensah also returned to the starting line as he was paired with Daniel Amartey. Joseph Paintsil was also given a start.
Unfortunately, Ghana’s Jonathan Mensah could not finish the game due to a scary injury. The centre back collided with CAR’s Peter Guinari and was rushed to the hospital.
Ghana now has four points from the first two games. The group is very open now after Angola and Madagascar also settled for a 1-1 draw.
The Stars will move to Japan to partake in the Kirin Cup.
