The delegation from the Ashanti Regional Office of Ghana Education Service (GES) have met leaders of National Sports Authority. This was in order to thrash out all controversial issues relating to the use of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The Inter Schools and Colleges Sports in the region has began and the Federation would be using the national facility.
This was necessary as a result of mishappenings after the 2019 Edition of the Inter Schools Sporting Activities. Students from some schools were seen breaking chairs and destroying other properties at the stadium after the football and athletics competetions respectively.
After these unfornate incidents, the NSA revealed that authorities of GES have been reluctant to pay for the damages caused by the stduents, thus their reluctance to also lease out the stadium for GES. Theefore there was the need for the to agencies to meet and resove these issues.
The game were suspended for two years because of Covid- 19 pandemic. The lifting of the bann has come as a big reief for students who have been training all these while ahead of the ne season.
The meeting as held on Monday, une 27, 2002 at the offices of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. GES delegation wwas led by Rev. Fr. Stephen Owusu Sekyere; Regional Chairman of CHASS and his Vice Dr. B.K Baah as well as Mr. K Dafour Osei Bonsu, Regional Accountant for GES. Others in the team were Mr. Suleiman . Yeboah, Chairman of Sports Federation for GES. Lt. Col. Godwin Agbetey and Coach Prince Acheampong were also part of the delegation as members of the Sports Federation.
Mr. Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, the acting Regional Director for NSA led the delegation and as supported by Miss Linda Adarkwah Yiadom, the Administrator and Mr. George Bassoah, the Regional Accountant.
