African football legend Samuel Eto’o Fils has eulogized Abedi Ayew Pele as one of the true legends of the game ever seen.
Sameul Eto’o identified Abedi as one of his three key African players who ever played the game of football. He mentioned Roger Milla and George Weah as the two.
He gave his list when asked about his best five players in African football in an interview with GH One TV on Saturday.
“For the first position I have three names, but it will be difficult for me to choose the first. I have Roger Milla, President George Weah and one of the best ever, Abedi Pele. I was a kid, but I remember those three big names were incredible”.
Abedi won the African player of the year for three consecutive years from 1991 to 1993.
Eto’o also expressed the difficulty in choosing the remaining two. He mentioned Ghana’s Michael Essien amongst other big stars who recently retired from the game.
He went on to name Emmanuel Adabayor, Yaya Toure, Dider Drogba and Michael Essien.
The former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker is currently the President of the Cameroun Football Association. He is in Ghana for an official FIFA assignment.
Eto’o is also an ambassador for the Qatar Legacy and is currently touring some selected countries to publicize the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
