He went on to reveal his reaction when Ghana got the qualification in Cape Verde, I was part of the boys running around, blowing the horn, crazy! The Star Captain said.
Dede was then playing in France for Olympique Marseille. He got the chance to play for Ghana in later 2007 but could not make it to the 2008 African Cup of Nataions. He then captained the National U-20 team to win gold at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt.
The captain would then get a chance to play at the 2010 World Cup for Ghana which was his first appearance.
In 2006, Ghana qualified ahead of South Africa, Burkina Faso, DR Congo and Cape Verde.
The Black Stars then qualified with Italy ahead of Czech Republic and USA but lost to then defending champions, Brazil 3-0 at the knockout stage.
